I looked out my window and was terrified what I saw. My name is Bogna Nowak
I live right outside of the Ghetto of Warsaw and have two children twin girls they are seven years old. One morning I opened the shades and looked out the window, I saw people running, hiding and fighting, I had no idea what was going on. I woke up my kids and ran into the hall. There were many other families out there all wondering the same thing as me. I asked one family what was going on and they had no idea, I asked everyone what was going on but no one knew. All as I knew was the it looked light a fight between the Germans and the Jew and I could not believe that people would such cruel thing to each other. I could not believe that someone would do such a terrible thing. I grabbed my two kids and ran back into my apartment, and closed all of the shades, windows and locked all of the doors. Even though I felt bad for the people in need I grabbed a book and read it to my kids. I did not want anything to do what was going on right outside of my apartment, all that I cared about at that very moment was that me and my family were safe. When I look back on writing I could not believe that I just sat and watched and pretended like every thing was ok when people were being killed and family’s were being separated. And now twenty years after the event I know what happened on this very day and where all the Jews were being brought to and what horrible things that the Germans were doing to them.
